Abstract

Abstract:

This essay investigates Pound’s engagement with the works of Henry James as expressed in the marks and annotations he left in the volumes now kept by Mary de Rachewiltz, Pound’s daughter, in the library of the Castle of Brunnenburg, South Tyrol. The essay discusses in particular those volumes, or portions of volumes, that more than others allow for a consistent picture of Pound’s interest: the prefaces, The Wings of the Dove, and The American Scene.
