Abstract:
Utilizing social capital theory, the purpose of this study was to develop a better understanding of collegiate students' affective commitment and adjustment to the educational environment. The results of the study suggest that structural and relational social capital improved student affective commitment and adjustment. This underscores importance for institutions to create policies that better facilitate the growth of social networks among students. Implications for educational institutions to develop relevant policy programs are discussed.
