Abstract

Abstract:

Although much of the scholarship on the Middle English Stanzaic Morte Arthur is negative, careful attention to the plot construction and character development in the poem reveals both the great artistry and rich characterization of the Stanzaic-poet, whose heretofore underappreciated skills make Malory's adoption of the stanzaic poem as an influential source for his Morte Darthur all the more understandable.
