Eternal Declaration

When I was young, I had to wear earrings.That’s the age to wear them.A’Da pierced my ears;he wrapped my earlobein a leaf.From inside a fear I’d never known before,I heard A’Da say: Child,this needle is piercing the leafnot your ear. I looked into A’Da’s eyesand just nodded my head.When the needle went through my earlobe,my blood dyed the leaf red. I knew the needlehad pierced my ear, as well asthat thin, thin leaf.But I didn’t cry.Because from that moment I wasa man like my father.
