  • Editors' Note
  • Kevin T. Barksdale and Michael E. Woods

As the new coeditors of West Virginia History: A Journal of Regional Studies, we would like to introduce ourselves to readers and potential authors. Dr. Kevin Barksdale is Professor of History at Marshall University, specializing in Appalachian history and the eighteenth-century frontier. Dr. Michael Woods is Associate Professor of History at Marshall University, specializing in nineteenth-century US history. We are excited to assume our duties as coeditors and look forward to working with our excellent production team to continue to publish an outstanding journal.

We wish to thank our department chair, Dr. Dan Holbrook; our dean, Dr. Robert Bookwalter; and our university president, Dr. Jerome A. Gilbert, for their support. Thanks also to Dr. Ken Fones-Wolf and the production team at West Virginia University and West Virginia University Press for showing us the ropes and smoothing out the transition process.

As we look ahead to the journal's future, we invite and encourage potential contributors to submit articles on all aspects and eras of West Virginia and Appalachian history. [End Page v]
