This review is a response to Len Sperry's comprehensive and thoughtful article outlining the reasons for, and challenges and processes involved in, Adlerian therapy becoming evidence based. Sperry is methodical, taking the reader through his considerations in identifying a core therapeutic strategy, specifying tactics and techniques, preparing a manual that elaborates the treatment protocol to be evidenced, and preparing for one or more pilot studies. Summarizing Sperry's main points, the review responds to two questions: Why is evidence-based status for Adlerian therapy needed? and How can evidence-based status for Adlerian therapy be accomplished? The review ends with a call for other Adlerian graduate training programs and clinical services to join with Sperry in running manualized pilot studies and randomized controlled trials of Adlerian pattern-focused therapy.
