Abstract

ABSTRACT:

Well past the 2016 primary, Progressives remain locked in battle for the soul of the Democratic Party. While rumors of a 2020 Sanders campaign float around, upstart groups galvanized by or formed directly out of the Sanders 2016 campaign have been attempting to bring what they learned to Congressional fights and down-ballot races, from how to create robust volunteer networks to how to engage in small-donor grassroots fundraising. The two groups aren't institutionally connected, but share a commitment to a broad set of progressive values and policies like Medicare for All. Kate Aronoff interviews key activists from these organizations, explaining both the potential of and the obstacles to their plans.
