Abstract

ABSTRACT:

Tim Shenk begins his co-editorship of Dissent by outlining two words that could encapsulate today's political moment. He searches for a word for the experience of living through a history that's both tragedy and farce, and another for the comfort of taking refuge and building solidarities that might allow us to make something better. While noting the certain difficulties of balancing and building democratic socialism, Shenk argues that this political vision remains radical and necessary for the road ahead.
