This short story concerns an employee at the American Gothic House, an Iowa landmark made famous by Grant Wood's painting American Gothic, who strikes up a correspondence and friendship with an infamous serial killer. The employee finds herself drawn to the killer, how the darkest thing he has ever done is out there for the world to see, while she begins to question what violence she is capable of.
