The cave of the mind is closed to the general public.There's a copy down the roadwhich is said to resemble the original,but here in the inner darknesswhatever I saved is visiblewhen I close my eyes.
I painted the animals before I could name them,bison, stag, aurochs, ibex,spitting pigment against the wall.I watched them move in the quivering shadows.My chief joy was to make the bison leap. [End Page 79]
