iridescent tail feather,downcast.
Every night, ten thousand wingsknit a black shawl in the sky,blotting out the cathedral.
They caw on the gable, the seam of their bodiesholding the house together for a moment.

MAXIMILIANE DONICHT is from Munich, Germany. Her first chapbook, Bees of the Invisible, is forthcoming from Finishing Line Press. She holds an MFA in poetry and literary translation from Columbia University. Her poetry appears in the London Journal of Fiction, Bone Bouquet, Paris / Atlantic, and Cold Mountain Review.
