Abstract

abstract:

Discrimination has helped facilitate the rejection of Black men from numerous communities. Studies suggest that discrimination of the Black same gender loving man can lead to the experience of negative outcomes, which include internalized homophobia and decreased feelings of self-worth. The following exploratory study seeks to present existing literature; understand the discriminatory experiences of Black same gender loving men; and compare their narratives to the way they appraise their sexual identities. Results support that Black same gender loving men experience variable levels of discrimination, which may impact their sexual identity appraisal.
