Abstract
ABSTRACT:
Issue #500 of Detective Comics contains a short two-page story titled "Once Upon a Time," based on Snoopy's fictional story "A Dark and Stormy Night." This essay explores questions about actual and fictional authorship raised by the multi-layered intertextual narrative structure that results, where in some sense Snoopy authored a Batman comic.
