Abstract:
Smith professor Joel Westerdale discusses "The Road Not Taken," a Robert Frost poem with conflicting interpretations often aligned with either naivety or cynicism. Westerdale rereads the poem using the lens of Friedrich Nietzsche and Nietzsche's approach to his own past, concluding that the poem is about choice, the choice between the ways to interpret one's own past.
