Obituary: M. Byron Raizis 1931–2017

On Friday, 8 December 2017, the distinguished Romanticist and Byron scholar, Professor Emeritus, M. Byron Raizis, sadly, passed away at his home on the outskirts of Athens. He received the last rites at the local cemetery chapel opposite the slopes of Mount Penteli, not very far from his home, on that chilly, but sun-blessed afternoon of 12 December. The funeral speech on behalf of the School of English Studies of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, where he was Chair and taught for many years before his retirement, was delivered in the chapel by Professor Liana Sakelliou-Schultz, Chair of the School of English.
