Louisa May Alcott and Dodie Smith showcase a model of the young woman as aspiring writer that features deep reading and domestication. Recent novels by Rainbow Rowell, Anna Breslaw, and Scott Westerfeld showcase a new model of the young female writer featuring modern publishing opportunities, including fanfiction, and corresponding pitfalls.
