ABSTRACT:
Robert K. Elder introduces and reproduces a short, never-before-published essay about Hemingway by his high school friend and crush, Frances Coates. Elder found this lively and touching remembrance of the author as a young man in an old trunk kept by Frances's granddaughter, Betsy Fermano.
