Abstract

ABSTRACT:

Robert K. Elder introduces and reproduces a short, never-before-published essay about Hemingway by his high school friend and crush, Frances Coates. Elder found this lively and touching remembrance of the author as a young man in an old trunk kept by Frances's granddaughter, Betsy Fermano. The Hemingway Review is grateful to Ms. Fermano for granting permission to print this piece and the accompanying photos.
