Cine e Iglesia en el Período Especial cubano

RESUMEN:

Esta ponencia analizará la relación entre el cine y la Iglesia católica en Cuba durante el revolucionario, para mostrar cómo a través del audiovisual, la iglesia recupera una plata forma de difusión de su pensamiento y logra paulatinamente salir de su involuntario enclaustramiento. Después del alborozo inicial de 1959, las relaciones de la Iglesia con la revolución se deterioran, y tras el cierre de todos los colegios y universidades religiosas, la iglesia queda totalmente relegada del nuevo panorama cultural del país. Sin embargo, la Iglesia se refugia en el cine y consigue mantener contacto con la sociedad civil a través de cineclubes, su participación en festivales nacionales y la publicación de revistas fílmicas desde sus propios centros.

This article analyzes the relationship between the cinema and the Catholic Church in Cuba during the revolutionary period, to show how through the audiovisual, the church recovered a platform of diffusion of its thought and gradually managed to leave its involuntary cloister. Following the initial excitement of 1959, the church's relations with the revolution deteriorated. After the closure of all religious colleges and universities, the church was completely relegated to the country's new cultural landscape. However, the church took "refuge" in cinema and managed to maintain contact with civil society through cinema clubs, participation in national festivals, and the publication of film journals from its own centers.
