Richard Mercer Dorson (1916-1981): A Memorate

What follows is a brief remembrance by Nikolai Burlakoff upon the hundredth anniversary of Richard M. Dorson's birth. Richard Dorson continues to be a key figure in the discipline of folklore, and the editors join the author of this "memorate" in calling for continued reflection on his many roles and influences. It is our hope that this Note will inspire the submission to JAF of additional remembrances of Dorson as well as of other members of the field. (The Editors)
