Abstract

This review of Gallagher and Freeman’s In Defence of Theatre: Aesthetic Practices and Social Intervention traces key themes of performance affect and cultural space in its nineteen contributions, which comprise an interconnected community of theatrical work, and which successfully meet the editorial challenge to assemble “a positive and constructive reflection of the ‘now’ of Canadian theatre.”
