Garman is a third-year graduate student in the PhD Program in American Studies at The Graduate Institute of the Liberal Arts, Emory University. his research interests include American labour history, workingclass cultures, and folk, working-class, and popular music. Randel D. Hanson is a PhD student in the Program in American Studies, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis. His dissertation, 10,000 Years of the American Century:Monuments to Cold War Nuclear Waste, engages nuclear waste as the material legacy of the Cold War, as something which shapes social relations, and as something which constitutes our imaginal realms. He is presently teaching Humanities at Rice University. Bernard Lemelin is a visiting assistant professor in American history at the University of Quebec at Montreal. He obtained his PhD is American history at McGill University in 1992. He is currently working on two publications one dealing with Congressman Christian A. Herter, and the other on Senator Forrest C. Donnell. Jon Michael Spencer isan associate professor of African and Afro-American Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is the founder and editor of the semi-annual Duke University Press journal, Black Sacred Music: A Journal of Theomusicology. He is also the author of a number of books, including Black Hymnody: A Hymnological History of the African American Church (1992) and Blues and Evil (1993). Matthew B. White is a Master's candidate in the Department of Popular Culture at Bowling Green State University. He is currently working on his master's thesis which involves applying theories developed by Victor Turner to Bob Dylan's music and career, and is tentatively titled "'When I Paint My Masterpiece': Liminality and the Rolling Thunder Revue.""
