Tally and her twin sister Tempest have always shared a special connection, but lately they've been growing apart. Tally can't help but be embarrassed by her nerdy sister, whose pockets are always full of batteries and gears and who still wears pigtails even though their thirteenth birthday is fast approaching. Something else is coming between them, too, as if whatever twin radar that made it impossible for them to play hide-and-seek as children and had them practically reading each other's thoughts has turned into a force that's somehow physically pushing them apart, sometimes causing literal sparks. While Tempest tries to find a solution with her inventions, Tally starts delving into some questions about her family that she never thought to ask before—like why their mom never mentions her own twin sister. As the narrator, Tally is both sympathetic and infuriating: protective of her sister, terrified that they might have to be separated, but struggling to let Tempest become her own person. While Tally is certain she can overcome the force that's threatening to separate them all on her own, Tempest realizes that they'll need to work together. Linko crafts a satisfying coming of age tale, with Tally and Tempest's uneven progress toward a more equal partnership culminating in a thrilling climax that's full of promises for a magical future for both of them, together and apart. Fans of Frozen in particular will devour this celebration of love between sisters. SS
