Abstract

A regular feature in Inks, “From the Archives” shares rare and historically significant comics materials from archives and private collections, with the aim of encouraging further research or teaching of related materials or topics. This issue we present the papers and diaries of the pioneering cartoonist Edwina Dumm. Along with excerpts from her diaries recalling stories from her childhood, we present here a sample of her previously unseen color sketches of ordinary New Yorkers from the 1940s and 50s.
