Abstract

“[Adrift in remains]” is a segment taken from a longer prose and broken-line verse poem called “Shine.” It explores the interpenetrating textures of contemporary media and urban experience, following closely the neoliberal political climate and its effects on exploited regions of the Middle East and elsewhere. It is also a secular poem of ritual and renewal, addressing disparate threads of literary continuity from Emily Dickinson to Elvis Presley.
