Abstract
In “Summer People,” a young girl living in rural Upstate New York, witnesses the death of her brother by drowning. Not long afterward, another girl appears at the river where the tragedy occurred, and the two children begin a close friendship marked by loss, haunting, and an eerie symmetry.
