We are saddened by the death of Kenneth Silverman on July 7, 2017. His obituary is found at the end of this issue; included are some reminiscences from members of the PSA.

This issue of the Review marks the end of its eighteenth year, and we're pleased that the rate of submissions has kept our editorial board very busy—almost too busy! We are grateful, then, that three more Poe scholars have agreed to serve: Erin Forbes of the University of Bristol and Carole Shaffer-Koros, Emerita, Kean University will join the board on January 1, 2108, while Philip Phillips of Middle Tennessee State University will join on April 1, 2018, when his tenure on the PSA executive committee ends. We are grateful for their willingness to serve and welcome their contributions.

Other journal news: the Poe Review is now part of Scopus, a major indexing service (https://www.elsevier.com/solutions/scopus). Their statement about our journal follows: "This is an impressive journal that is clearly in rude health, from the editorial policy and the homepage to the production schedule and online access. Articles are being well-cited, which is an indication of the importance of the journal in its research field. For all of these reasons it fully merits inclusion in Scopus."

We are heartened by Poe's continued popularity abroad, evidenced by following Poe society websites: http://www.edgarallanpoe.nl/ (Netherlands); http://edgarallanpoe.it/ (Italy); https://edgarallanpoespanishassociation.wordpress.com/ (Spain); and http://www.poejapan.org/ (Japan). To further indicate Poe's importance abroad, included in this issue is the third bibliography of publications by Japanese Poe scholars.

The Kyoto conference is in the works, and it won't be too long until June 2018 when scholars from around the world will gather to discuss Poe and Hawthorne. Travel scholarships are generously being offered to PSA members by Susan Tane and to members of the Hawthorne Society by Sam Coale.

As promised, the "Interviews with Poe Scholars" column resumes in this issue with J. Gerald Kennedy. More to come! [End Page v]
