Abstract

Abstract:

Article on one of the earliest journals published on Chicano or Mexican-American experience in the United States, El Grito, A Journal of Contemporary Mexican-American Thought; it describes early issues, and the emphasis on issues of inequality and injustice in editorials and other articles. Founded in Berkeley, California, the independent publishing venture succeeded under Quinto Sol, which published some of the earliest Chicano novels. The article concludes with a discussion on the little change evident, four decades later, in improving issues involving lack of equity in Latino educational attainment.
