The award, worth $50,000, is to be presented every three years to recognize exceptional contribution to music and its communication. While teaching at Trent University in Peterborough , Ontario this summer, Murray Schafer staged a scaled-down version of his musical-cultural extravaganza "The Greatest Show on Earth." A fuller version of the event is to be staged in Peterborough in the summer of 1988. 4. Trent University will stage an event to honour Margaret Laurence and her many significant contributions to the University. Scheduled for March 10-12, 1988, the weekend will include the first Margaret Laurence Lecture, to be given by Adele Wiseman, and readings by a number of prominent Canadian writers, including Timothy Fihdley, W.O.
