Canadian Studies News and Notes 1. The Centre of Canadian Studies at the University ofEdinburgh will hold a conference, 4-5 May 1990, on the theme "Limitless Identities: Is There A Canadian History?" The Di.ctionary of Canadian Biography has announced publication of Volume VII (1836-1850) in its on-going series. Volume XIl is scheduled for publication in the Spring of 1990. Like earlier volumes, Volume Vil is available at the price of $70.00 from the University of Toronto Press, 5201 Dufferin St., Downsview, Ontario, M3H 5T8. 3. The Association for Canadian Studies in the United States will hold its Biennial Meeting, 17-20 November 1989, at the Westin Saint Francis Hotel in San Francisco . Joumal of Canadian Studies 4. The Eleventh Annual North American Labor History Conference will be held 19-21 October 1989 at Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. The program committee envisions sessions reflective of the best of recent scholarship in diverse areas of labor history. It is hoped that the program will include sessions dealing with Canadian and European labor history, as well as American. Proposals relating to other geographical areas are also welcome.
