L’Utilisation des Théâtres Antiques

Cet article pose les questions fondamentales débattues lors de la table ronde, à savoir le conflit entre la volonté de conserver le patrimoine constitué par les monuments et le désir de préserver l’héritage culturel. La protection des monuments devrait-elle empêcher ceuxci de prendre un nouvel essor, grâce à la créativité, ou est-ce que la créativité devrait être pliée aux exigences et aux qualités de l’ancien monument autour duquel elle est conçue? L’auteur fait mention de la déclaration de Segesta et annonce le travail en cours sur une autre déclaration. Ce nouveau document, la déclaration de Malte, traite des anciens sites qui à l’origine, n’étaient pas conçus comme des espaces théâtraux mais qui pourraient être utilisés en tant que tels.

This paper poses the fundamental questions debated in the round table: the conflict between the preservation of ‘monumental’ heritage in relation to that of the preservation of a ‘cultural’ heritage. Should the protection of monuments close them to the vibrancy of creativity, or should creativity be plied to the exigencies and the qualities of the ancient around which it is conceived? The author refers to the Segesta Declaration and announces the workings of a new declaration, which takes into account ancient sites not created as theatres, but which can be used as theatrical spaces.
