Abstract

National Museum of African American History and Culture Curator Paul Gardullo discusses the process of collecting, interpreting, and curating artifacts from Louisiana State Penitentiary, also known as Angola Prison. The article discusses Angola as representative of the plantation-to-prison pipeline and addresses issues of collecting artifacts from and interpreting a prison that is still in operation.
