Contributors FREDERICK W. SHILSTONE, Assistant Professor of English at Clemson University, is concerned with British literature of the nineteenth century, with emphasis on the Romantics. He has published a study on Thomas Hardy’s poetry and continues research into Byron’s relationship to classical, continental, and native British literary traditions. THEODORE BOGDANOS is Associate Professor of Medieval English and Comparative Literature at San Jose State Uni­ versity. His study of The Shepherd of Hermes and medieval visionary allegory will appear in Viator in 1977. He has completed a book on medieval poetic symbolism and is presently working on a critical anthology and translation of Byzantine lyric poetry. He also has transcribed Byzantine music into modem notation. WOLFGANG F. SOHLICH teaches courses in modem French and European theatre at the University of Oregon where he is Associate Professor of French. His previous publica­ tions include studies on Genet, Giraudoux, and Audiberti. Currently he is doing research on metatheatre and audience response. CAROLYN RUTH SWIFT LENZ is Associate Professor of English at Rhode Island College. She is presently writing a book on the plays of John Lyly. ...
