Contributors WALTER J. and RUTH I. MESERVE are a husband and wife team working in the area of modem Chinese drama and theatre. In addition to Modem Drama from Communist China (1970), they have published essays in the Journal of Popular Culture, the Children’s Theatre Review, and Modern Drama. They are now preparing a history of modern drama in China. Professor Meserve is in the Department of Theatre and Drama, Indiana University. ROBERT EDWARDS is an assistant professor of English at the State University of New York at Buffalo. His work has appeared previously in Criticism, Papers on Language and Literature, and Comparative Drama; he is presently working on a book dealing with the Montecassino Passion Play. CHARLES R. FORKER, Professor of English at Indiana Uni­ versity, is currently finishing a book-length study of John Webster. Professor Forker has contributed frequently to many journals—chiefly articles on Shakespeare, Webster, and Jacobean drama—has published a critical edition of Shirley’s The Cardinal (1964) and a monograph on Ed­ ward Phillips (1973). He also edited Henry V for the Blackfriars Shakespeare. JOSEPH M. DUFFY, Professor of English at the University of Notre Dame, has published essays on nineteenth and twenti­ eth-century English writers in such journals as ELH, Nine­ teenth-Century Fiction, and Thought. Professor Duffy is an E. Harris Harbison Award recipient (1971), an advisory editor of the Review of Politics, and is this academic year a visiting professor at Brooklyn College of the City Univer­ sity of New York. JOHN P. CUTTS, a frequent contributor to Comparative Drama, is Professor of English at Oakland University. Professor Cutts has published widely on drama and music of sixteenth and seventeenth-century England. ...
