Contributors LESLIE HOWARD MARTIN is an assistant professor of English at the University of Notre Dame where he teaches drama and Restoration and eighteenth-century literature. He is presently preparing a book on the heroic drama in relation to the seventeenth-century French heroic romances. WALTER H. SOKEL is the author of five books, including Franz Kafka: Tragik und Ironie and The Writer in Extremis: Expressionism in Twentieth-Century German Literature. He is professor of German at Stanford University. BEATRICE CORRIGAN, Professor Emeritus of Italian at the University of Toronto, is the Co-ordinating editor of the Collected Works of Erasmus and has written widely on Renaissance topics. EDWARD J. CZERWINSKI, professor of Slavic languages and literatures at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, has published widely on the drama and theater of Eastern Europe; his The Soviet Invasion of Czechoslovakia: The Effects on Eastern Europe, will be published this year. MARTIN MUELLER is an associate professor of English and Comparative Literature at University College, University of Toronto.
