Contributors MARTIN ESSLIN is the author of several books on theatre, including the recent, An Anatomy of Drama and Antonin Artaud. MARIA IRENE FORNES has written 14 plays since her first, in 1961. She also works in children's theatre and Spanish-speaking theatre. A collection of her work, Promenade and Other Plays, was published in 1971. PHILIP GLASS collaborated with Robert Wilson on Einstein on the Beach. The Philip Glass Ensemble has performed concerts in the U.S. and Europe. RICHARD KOSTELANETZ is a frequent contributor to numerous publications on literature and the arts. JAMES LEVERETT, currently producer of the Hunter College Playwrights Project, has published articles in Yale/Theatre and Educational Theatre Journal. BONNIE MARRANCA is editor of the recently published The Theatre of Images and Literary Advisor at the American Place Theatre. THEODORE SHANK is Professor of Theatre at the University of California, Davis. He is the author of The Art of Dramatic Art. ROBERT SKLOOT is on the faculty of the Department of Drama and Theatre at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. MICHAEL TOTEBORG, a German critic, lives in Hamburg, Germany . FLORENCE WAREN is Chairperson of the Dance Program of The Leonard Davis Center for the Performing Arts, City College of New York. JOHN WILLETT has written extensively on Bertolt Brecht and German theatre. His books include The Theatre of Bertolt Brecht, Expressionism, and the soon to be published The Theatre of Erwin Piscator.
