  • Art and Cancer
  • Dhruba Deb, Guest Editor

Cancer lives with us today. In our memories, in our battle, in our victory, in our science and in our art. The current state of the research to understand and cure such a multifaceted disease is highly complex, not only combining techniques from several subdisciplines within science and art but also attempting to intertwine scientific methodologies with artistic practices toward a unity of intellectual frameworks.

In 2016 we sent out a call for papers that document studies combining artistic approaches with science and technology to help advance cancer research. After many exchanges, reviews and discussions, we are pleased to present here two articles (our top 22 percent) from among the submissions we have received so far. To support the rapid growth of this community, we will continue to consider papers about studies that contribute to novel perspectives for oncologists beyond what has been revealed by biological research alone. Visit <http://leonardo.info/isast/journal/calls/artandcancer.html> to find out more.

We congratulate the authors of these articles and thank those who considered publishing with us. Finally, we encourage each and every one of you who are interested in making a difference in the field of cancer prevention, diagnosis and cure to send proposals, queries and manuscripts to <leonardomanuscripts@leonardo.info>.
