A Jewish medical student and expatriate from Venezuela receives a visit from her parents and learns how their marriage has been affected by the anti-Semitism and financial difficulties that they face in Caracas. The story explores medicine, displacement, loss, and the tendency toward self-preservation that dire circumstances can elicit.
