Abstract

This paper focuses on how media production played a central role for the League of Revolutionary Black Workers in its collective mobilization of workers. Through the creation of newsletters, a local newspaper, and film, Finally Got the News, the league utilized media making as an integral activist practice. The league’s partnership with an all-white film team from New York Newsreel to create Finally Got the News provides a unique opportunity to explore the racial, class, and gendered privileges that haunt US white radical filmmaking, black activism, and alliances between black and white New Left groups.
