Research in fund-raising is becoming more important as competition for dollars increases. This article analyzes the relationships of seven institutional characteristics and five fund-raising outcomes in over six hundred institutions of ten types. Correlational and stepwise regression procedures were used to describe how relationships of institutional characteristics and outcomes vary by type of institution and specific donor and to identify institutions with effective fund-raising programs based on their level of institutional resources.
