The graduating seniors’ cries sent us sprinting for shelter. Intimates torn from their embraces marched on swollen feet to search for sounds of breathing under perforated torsos.

We will attend their corpses, a shampoo and rinse, lotions to lubricate rigid skin. We’ll face them toward the lectern in this half-empty hall in cozy seats upright still as stalks of dry reed. [End Page 64]
