Jennifer Wolff <jwolff.pr@gmail.com> es estudiante doctoral del Programa Graduado en Historia de la Universidad de Puerto Rico, Recinto de Río Piedras. Posee un doble bachillerato Magna Cum Laude en Historia y Estudios Latinoamericanos de la Universidad de Duke. Trabaja como Directora Senior de Programas del Centro para una Nueva Economía en San Juan, donde desarrolla iniciativas relacionadas a políticas públicas que inciden en el desarrollo económico, la transparencia gubernamental y la equidad en Puerto Rico. Es autora de “‘Guerra justa’ y Real Hacienda: una nueva aproximación a la esclavitud indígena en la isla de San Juan y La Española” (Op.Cit., Revista del Centro de Investigaciones Históricas, número 22). Formó parte del comité editor del libro Claridad tras el lente (San Juan, Periódico de la Nación Puertorriqueña, 2012) y fue autora del ensayo introductorio “50 años de fotografía de Claridad”. Su investigación de tesis aborda el desarrollo del contrabando en Puerto Rico y el Caribe oriental entre 1575 y 1625.
Jorell A. Meléndez-Badillo <jorell.melendez_badillo@uconn.edu> is currently working towards his Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut. He is the author of Voces libertarias: Orígenes del anarquismo en Puerto Rico en Puerto Rico (Bloomington, IN: Secret Sailor Books, 2013; Madrid: Fundación Anselmo Lorenzo-CNT, 2014) and co-editor, along with Nathan Jun, of Without Borders or Limits: An Interdisciplinary Approach to Anarchist Studies (Cambridge: Cambridge Scholars Publishing , 2013). He has published book chapters as well as journal and newspaper articles on the topic of anarchism, labor, and radical politics in Puerto Rico.
Rosemarijn Hoefte <hofte@kitlv.nl> is a senior researcher at KITLV/Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies in Leiden, the Netherlands. Her main research interests are the history of postabolition Suriname, migration and unfree labor, and Caribbean contemporary history. Her most recent monograph, Suriname in the Long Twentieth Century, was published by Palgrave Macmillan in 2014. In addition, she is the managing editor of New West Indian Guide.
Matthew Bishop <matthew.bishop@sta.uwi.edu> is Senior Lecturer in International Relations at The University of the West Indies, Trinidad and Tobago. He is an Honorary Fellow of the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI) and has held visiting positions at Warwick University, the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies (Leiden), the Institute of Social Studies (The Hague) and Wuhan University, China. He has authored two books: The Political Economy of Caribbean Development, and, with Jean Grugel, Democratization: A Critical Introduction (both published by Palgrave in 2013). Bishop is also the managing editor of the Caribbean Journal of International Relations & Diplomacy. [End Page 313]
Peter Clegg <peter.clegg@uwe.ac.uk> is a Senior Lecturer in Politics and International Relations in the Department of Health and Social Sciences at the University of West England, Bristol, UK. He was also formerly a Research Fellow at the Sir Arthur Lewis Institute of Social and Economic Studies, The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, Jamaica, and at the Royal Netherlands Institute of Southeast Asian and Caribbean Studies in Leiden. Recent publications include Grenada: Revolution and Invasion, with Patsy Lewis and Gary Williams, and Governance in the Non-independent Caribbean: Challenges and Opportunities in the 21st Century, with Emilio Pantojas-García.
Carlos G. García-Quijano <cgarciaquijano@uri.edu> es Profesor Asociado en el Departamento de Sociología y Antropología y en el Departamento de Asuntos Marinos de la Universidad de Rhode Island. Su programa de investigación se enfoca en la relación entre la gente y los ecosistemas que le rodean, con énfasis en el estudio de cómo la cognición humana, cultura y sociedad afectan las interacciones humanoambiente. García-Quijano ha trabajado por más de 15 años con pesquerías a pequeña escala y poblaciones costeras en el Gran Caribe, donde ha realizado investigaciones en Puerto Rico, la República Dominicana, y las Islas Vírgenes de EE.UU.
