Abstract

The current study focused on four variables related to international students’ adjustment and academic success – self-acceptance, work avoidance, executive help-seeking and help-seeking threat. Three profiles were identified via cluster analysis – one adaptive pattern of means (high on self-acceptance, low on the other variables) and two distinct, but maladaptive patterns of means. Cluster classification predicted student academic success, above and beyond demographic characteristics. Implications for practitioners are offered.
