Both edmund Spenser in The Faerie Queene and Alfred, Lord Tennyson in The Idylls of the King depict their Arthurs through extensive Christological and scriptural allusions. Further, despite the wide generic and historical differences between these texts, both authors show that even Arthur falls short of the ideal of Christ. (JRH)
