Dreaming

Sangbin IM considers that art is a narcissistic, and therefore selfish, activity. In his sound art work Dreaming he expresses a wish to have his art confirmed as great—along with the artist himself, who is intoxicated with sweet thoughts of his admiration by others. Art is for him a form of self-hypnosis. It is a thrilling thought that others keep calling him so much that he loses interest or even feels annoyed. He also expresses this feeling in the work I’M SANG BIN: He is an artist; in other words, he is a star. In I’M SANG BIN, he expresses the narcissism of modern people and his own.
