Many South American countries find themselves rocked by crisis but struggling to credibly pivot toward economic reform while locked in infeasible populist models. These Pink Tide nations, so named for their governance by left-wing populist movements, face the challenge of balancing credible economic reform with political success, two desires that may not coexist.
