  • Doctoral Forum for Chinese LinguisticsOctober 15-16, 2016, Nankai University, Tianjin

In order to promote the scientific development of Chinese linguistics, improve the academic proficiency of young scholars, and better adapt to the current direction of modern multidisciplinary research, Nankai University’s College of Literature will host the Doctoral Forum for Chinese Linguistics on October 15-16, 2016.1 We invitation to senior linguistics doctoral candidate advisors to offer their critiques. And we warmly welcome registration to participate in this forum.

Participant Qualifications: Scholars who are in their second year or further in a PhD program, and PhD graduates who finished their program within two years.

Scope of Topics: Research in the areas of phonetics, syntax, lexicology, semantics, pragmatics, philology, etc., relating to cognitive linguistics, language contact, language acquisition (first and second language), language physiology, psycholinguistics, language pathology, evolutionary linguistics, experimental linguistics, language typology, sociolinguistics, language planning, neurolinguistics, computational linguistics, language engineering, etc.

Subjects Investigated: Mandarin Chinese, Chinese dialects, nationality languages, foreign languages, the language of children, the language of the elderly, interlanguage, and pathological language.

Departments: Departments of Chinese, Foreign Languages, Psychology, National Languages, Linguistic Engineering, and Language [End Page 463] Rehabilitation; and research institutes related to linguistics such as Anthropology, Archaeology, Genetics, and Artificial Intelligence.

Forum Languages: Chinese and English

Forum Format: Oral reports, post displays, advisor critiques, and forum discussions.

Registration Method: Article submission. Please send your 800-1000 word abstract (must be unpublished, and may include the entire article) by e-mail. Authors of submissions that pass review will be accepted to participate in the forum.
