LEONARDO WELCOMES TWO NEW MEMBERS ON STAFF

We are pleased to introduce the new managing editor at Leonardo: Laurie Stewart. Laurie comes to us from Center for the Collaborative Classroom (CCC), a nonprofit educational publisher dedicated to providing curricula that support the academic, ethical and social development of children, where she served as managing editor for more than 7 years. During that time, Laurie played a key role in CCC’s transition to the ever-evolving digital landscape as a member of an interdepartmental team that created and launched online courses, apps that support teachers in their instruction and multifunctional eBooks. Her background includes more than 25 years in the publishing industry, with experience ranging from trade publishing houses, large and small, to nonprofit educational publishers.

We are pleased to announce Danielle Siembieda’s new role as deputy director at Leonardo/ISAST. Danielle is focusing on engaging our community, developing programs and moving the vision of Leonardo forward. She brings a fresh outlook, enthusiasm and knowledge gained from her experience in the art/science sphere. Danielle’s interests lie at the intersection of social practice, institutional critique, intervention and new media, with an emphasis on the environment and technology. Past involvement includes board and leadership positions with the Women Environmental Artists Directory, Emerging Arts Professionals and the San Jose Public Art Advisory Committee, Outreach Coordinator for CODAME Art + Tech, co-project manager for the SJ Climate Clock Initiative and community engagement manager for ZERO1: The Art & Technology Network. As the founder of Art Inspector: Saving the Earth by Changing Art, Danielle partnered with the City of San Francisco Department of the Environment to help make artists’ workplaces healthy and safe.

Please join us in welcoming Laurie and Danielle.
