Arts education is a publically accountable regime. In this paper, I explore a few of the teaching and learning aspects of arts education. I begin by constructing a picture of arts education to address some public issues of it. I take to task in the second half of the paper one of those ill-advised homiletic conclusions about how science sees the arts in education, to elaborate on what I had begun to take account of in the first half of the paper: the learner-like teachings of art education.
