Abstract

Miguel Gutierrez’s body of choreographic work, developed in the post-9/11 decade, converses with theories that glimpse potential utopias in performance and in the concept of queerness. Gutierrez’s work is significant not just for envisaging desirable futures, but also for how its difficult aesthetics demonstrate, embody, and perform ways to be in and move through the non-utopias of now.
